ARTS AND CULTURE: Shedding a different light on water

Istanbul, as the host city of the 5th World Water Forum, has a unique nature and history which harbour great resources. By preparing the Artistic Events Programme, the Forum Secretariat hoped to introduce the native cultures which made this beautiful city the 2010 European Capital of Culture. It also tried to gather creative minds who use the theme of water to shed a different light on natural resources.


As a metaphor, we chose the art of “Ebru”, which uses water as a background, embracing the patterns of different colours flowing freely, yet permanently, for the reflection of Turkish culture. To view the photos of the cultural and artistic events held during the Forum please click here.
